Seattle Mapping Gets Old School

Sent to you by Rio via Google Reader: Seattle Mapping Gets Old School

We're sure, or at least fervently hoping, that we're not the only
people who have been walking the streets of Seattle at some point and
found ourselves thing 'Sure, this is nice, but wouldn't it be cooler if
everything here was rendered in 8-bit, Final Fantasy-style Nintendo
graphics?' Your Seattlest may be a little bitter that some of our more
finely honed skills--defending villages from rampaging hordes of orcs,
for example, or retrieving powerful relics from the treasure troves of
vicious dragons--are undervalued because these things don't, well,
exist.

But courtesy of Brett Camper, Seattleites can finally take a look at
what the Emerald City would look like if it was a magical video game
fiefdom at 8-Bit Seattle. Using Google Maps and 8 classic video game
graphics, Camper has created interactive 8-Bit maps of cities like New
York and London, and his hometown of Seattle is the latest to get the
treatment.

Our one piece of disappointment? No special marker for the Fremont
Troll - that gag is right there, just waiting to be made.
